SCC and BHCC graduate culinary students!

This May marked the completion of the culinary job training program, a partnership between SCC and Bunker Hill Community College.  Over the course of the spring, the students learned the basics of the culinary arts by working hands on in the BHCC kitchens, mastering knife skills along the way.  At the same time, they were trained in food safety and sanitation and took the ServSafe certification test at the end of the program.  In June the group visited Foundation Kitchen, a local business that serves as an incubation space for small culinary operations.  Owner Ciaran Nagle shared the story of how he created Foundation after immigrating to the US and having a midlife career change.

Somerville sits on the original homelands of the Massachusett, Wampanoag, Naumkeag, and Nipmuc tribal nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land on which we live and work.
