Transportation Secretaries, New and Old, Join SCC to Promote Social Equity

On January 13th, SCC had the pleasure of welcoming former Transportation Secretary, Richard Davey (left), and the newly appointed Transportation Secretary, Stephanie Pollack (center), to a special SCC event promoting social equity in Somerville.

They joined SCC’s CEO Danny LeBlanc, and other SCC staff, board members and supporters who care deeply about keeping Someville diverse and thriving for everyone, as the city will witness great changes in the landscape in the coming years, with the Green Line and major (re)development projects that are in the works. SCC’s role in Somerville’s expansive transformation is to make sure these new amenities benefit people of all incomes, and that Somerville continues to be a diverse and affordable community.

Congratulations to Stephanie on being named the state’s new transportation chief! She’s been a great supporter and advocate of SCC, and we have no doubt shes she’s going to keep social equity close to heart as she moves into this next chapter of her career.

Somerville sits on the original homelands of the Massachusett, Wampanoag, Naumkeag, and Nipmuc tribal nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land on which we live and work.
