SCC Launches Year End Appeal. 50% Tax Rebates Available through CITC

As the end of the year approaches, we take the time not only to reflect on accomplishments we have made, but the strides we have taken to prepare ourselves for the challenges that lie ahead.

2014 has been a momentous year for SCC…

  • We launched the First Source Jobs Initiative;
  • We signed an MOU with MassDOT to bring more jobs to Somerville residents with the construction of the Green Line Extension;
  • We formed the Union United coalition to organize and advocate for “development without displacement” in the Union Square Redevelopment project;  and
  • We got final city and state approval to begin construction on our 181 Washington St. housing development.

These are just a few examples; there is plenty more that we do, and plenty of community members that we interact with everyday that continue to inspire us to work toward our mission.

As you think about your year-end gifts, consider a donation to SCC so we can continue to provide the services, programs, and housing that needs to be done to sustain Somerville as a diverse, vibrant and accessible community to everyone who calls it, or wants to call it, home.

Somerville sits on the original homelands of the Massachusett, Wampanoag, Naumkeag, and Nipmuc tribal nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land on which we live and work.
