New Cohort Completes SCC’s Leadership Development Institute

On April 4th, SCC welcomed a new group of community leaders to its ranks as our 8th annual Leadership Development Institute (LDI) concluded.

Spread over the course of four Saturday morning sessions, LDI included an established core curriculum and several supplementary workshops designed to develop strong leaders in our community.

As in previous years, LDI provides interpretation to participants in four languages, making this opportunity available to new immigrants or those who speak English as a second language. SCC values accessibility – to reach as many people as possible to organizing and empowering residents to identify paths to connect in the local struggle for social justice.

Our four session program included training on topics focused on leadership, relationship building, power analysis, and concluded with a local context framework.

Congratulations to all our 2015 LDI graduates!

Somerville sits on the original homelands of the Massachusett, Wampanoag, Naumkeag, and Nipmuc tribal nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land on which we live and work.
