Digital Quality Assurance Systems Engineer – Massachusetts State Lottery Commission

Position Description:
JOB SUMMARY

Through the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission’s (MSLC) agile software development practice, we create digital products such as games, loyalty programs, and user experiences that are essential to engaging and retaining players. Our team consists of extremely talented product managers, UX/UI designers, software engineers, project managers, and quality testers that collaborate closely to achieve our vision. The Digital Quality Assurance position will work closely with the Digital and Cyber Security departments to ensure that players experience a secure, world-class digital product.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Act as a liaison between the Digital, Cyber Security Departments, outside partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on digital testing

Develop and maintain the digital test lab environment, devices, and tooling

Establish test automation when practicable and evaluate results

Assist in authoring and maintaining a test case library to support digital platforms

Evaluate feature stories against product requirements to define acceptance criteria and detailed testing plans

Collaborate with internal teams to support agile release cycles and ensure production readiness

Develop acceptance criteria and test cases

Perform manual testing

Support the Central Gaming System testing efforts as required

Log and write bugs, collaborate with project and development teams to ensure that software is delivered into production environments with minimal defects

Conduct quality tests and document defects in a comprehensive manner

Ensure the integrity of portals across web, tablet, and mobile devices

Conduct testing of the e-commerce system and ensure transactional integrity

Perform regression testing on a recurring basis

Develop a deep understanding of digital platforms and external integration points

Support ADA compliance testing and conformity

Travel to other MSLC office locations, as required

Perform other related duties as assigned

[Full-Time (Salaried)] Salary Range: 86005.67-86005.67

Minimum Requirements:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

College degree in a Computer Science related field of study and/or have equivalent work experience

Minimum one-year experience in testing software

Skilled in manual testing across a variety of browsers and devices

Familiar with responsive websites and native mobile apps

Working knowledge of current software practices, e.g., DevOPs, SecOps, etc.

Technical understanding of responsive websites and native mobile apps

Good understanding of modern security practices

Knowledge of automated testing tools and experience within multiple platforms

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Keen attention to detail and accuracy

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and with teams effectively

Excellent resourcefulness and problem-solving abilities

A passion for games and digital experiences

Well organized and able to express thoughts in a forthright manner

Positive attitude

Strong technically in both hardware and software

Thorough knowledge and understanding of Windows

Ability to work well with others

Willingness to take initiative

SALARY RANGE INFORMATION

For external applicants who are not current employees of the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission (MSLC), the non-negotiable starting salary for this position is $86,005.67 (Job Grade 25/Step 1).

For current MSLC union employees, the starting salary for this position will be calculated using union promotional rules.
