Celebrating Because of You

On May 17th, SCC supporters joined staff and board at Nu Café, next door to our Union Square Apartments, to celebrate the successes of our Social Equity Campaign in 2016, as we kicked-off the campaign for 2017.SCC is fortunate to have an amazing group of generous and dedicated donors, many of whom joined us for the festivities on the 17th.

At our Because of You Party, donors, partners and friends sipped smoothies, listened to the live music from Country Pleasures, and took a journey to the roof of SCC’s new property next door. The featured speaker, MIT Professor Amy Glasmeier, gave a short perspective on “Why American Wages Are So Low: How to Ensure Work Pays a Living Wage in the 21st Century.”

Howie Rafal, an SCC member and donor, shared a personal reflection on the value of giving back to the community where he raised his kids while also leveraging greater impact through the CITC model. Stephanie Toews-Moeling, SCC CEO Danny LeBlanc, and Deputy Director Meridith Levy shared their theatrical sides with a rendition of Wizard of Oz – in search of affordable housing.

Thank you to all of our supporters! Find out more about the Social Equity Campaign and the Community Investment Tax Credit program. Call Meridith Levy with any questions or for more information.

Somerville sits on the original homelands of the Massachusett, Wampanoag, Naumkeag, and Nipmuc tribal nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land on which we live and work.
