A New Group of Leaders Graduates from LDI!

<--break->

Fifteen emerging community leaders took this year’s Leadership Development Institute course. This phenomenal group of leaders are well on their way to develop the skills needed to make positive change in Somerville and beyond.

LDI started on February 23rd – participants learned what it means to be a leader and why leadership is crucial in building a strong community. The second session on March 2nd focused on relationship-building and the value of creating clear messages in our work as community leaders. Our third session focused on building community power to create positive change. In our last session we focused on Somerville city politics. City Councilor Ben Ewen-Campen joined us and shared his motivations to run for office. We finished with a wonderful graduation ceremony. We can’t wait to see what lies ahead for our new leaders!

Somerville sits on the original homelands of the Massachusett, Wampanoag, Naumkeag, and Nipmuc tribal nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land on which we live and work.
