Database Administrator/ETL Developer – Massachusetts State Lottery Commission
Position Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The DBA/ETL Developer will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, creating and supporting MSLC databases and ETL processes as assigned by the Lead DBA/ETL Developer. The DBA/ETL Developer will maintain software, scripts and reports that access MSLC databases and will contribute ETL expertise with integration, transformation, and loading of data. The DBA/ETL Developer will assist the data analytics team with troubleshooting SQL queries. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Using DBMS(s) currently employed by the MSLC, create and maintain databases accessed by all MSLC users.
• Solid understanding of SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
• Monitor MSLC databases and proactively perform modifications, optimization adjustments, updates and upgrades as necessary.
• Update, modify, reconfigure, backup and restore systems and servers.
• Experience with database performance optimization.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data integration challenges.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain ETL processes to ensure the accurate and efficient movement of data from various sources into our data warehouse.
• Optimize and fine-tune ETL workflows for performance and scalability, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Ensure data quality and integrity through validation and cleansing processes.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in ETL development and data integration.
• Knowledge of IT best practices for maintaining patch management, documentation, and archiving protocols.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, with demonstrated ability to navigate in each and to write simple scripts and reports.
• Ability to use standard Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Sharepoint).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus.
[Full-Time (Salaried)] Salary Range: 91196.5-120403.61
