Sonia Rosa is an AmeriCorps member performing her service with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation [LISC]. She joined the First Source Jobs Program at SCC in April of 2022. She focuses on preparing the residents of Somerville and surrounding communities to enter the workforce and to advance their careers and overall growth. She is dedicated to her job and to the people she serves.

Originally from the West African nation of Cape Verde, Sonia migrated on her own to the United States at the age of 15. Through faith and perseverance, she grew into a passionate and resilient woman, eager to reach out and help those whose struggles she understands so well. Today, she is the proud mother of a teenaged boy and a five-year-old fur baby. She currently resides in West Somerville, where she is a fierce advocate for her community.
