SCC works to empower Somerville residents to become active leaders in the community.

Our members organize for affordable housing, local jobs, and grassroots planning, and have the opportunity to develop leadership skills through our annual Leadership Development Institute.

What We Do

Affordable Housing Organizing Committee

Affordable Housing Organizing Committee (AHOC) works to educate community members about the need for affordable housing, influence policy at the state and local level, and engage community members through actions, campaigns, and discussions.

Jobs for Somerville

Jobs for Somerville connects Somerville residents to Somerville employers, and provides opportunities for job training and worker education.

Leadership Development Institute

Our Leadership Development Institute (LDI) brings together veteran leaders and emerging voices to share community organizing strategies and sharpen their community engagement skills.

Somerville sits on the original homelands of the Massachusett, Wampanoag, Naumkeag, and Nipmuc tribal nations. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced removal from this territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous peoples still connected to this land on which we live and work.
