VIS Has Launched a New Campaign Against Anti-Immigrant Legislation
V.I.S. (Voices of Immigrants of Somerville, a committee of SCC), has launched a campaign to encourage the Board of Alderman to pass a City resolution that takes a stance against the recently passed Arizona law restricting the rights of immigrants. New 2011 IDA Sessions!
Somerville residents: earn TWO dollars for each dollar you save! SCC will be starting a new cohort of 10 Individual Development Account (IDA) investors in April. IDAs are matched savings accounts created for a specific purpose - in our case, so participants can save for college or professional training. The match incentive works like this: for each dollar of earned income a participant saves, two dollars are provided as a match (up to $1,000 in savings and $2,000 in match funds, for a total of $3,000). Participants must be income-eligible ($21,780/1 person, $29,420/2 people, $37,060/3 people, $44,700/4 people, $52, 340/5 people), TANF recipients, OR eligible to receive EITC.
